Event description

Description

This is a new workshop for 2019, and is aimed at people who are new to dark sky astrophotography. I'll take you from first principles to being able to get the right focus and exposure for starry landscapes.

This will be a Moonless night, meaning we'll have maximum darkness and the ability to capture hundreds if not thousands of stars, per shot (depends on lens used).

In terms of equipment, you must have a camera which can have the following set manually:

- focus

- aperture

- shutter speed

- ISO

You don't necessarily need to know how to do any of them, because I can show you. You'll also need a tripod and a torch.

You'll notice Stanhope is listed as the location. That's just because it's a central area in the North Pennines. We'll actually meet wherever the conditions are best that night, and head to a dark sky area (in Weardale, Teesdale, East Cumbria, or parts of southern Nothumberland). Ideally Weardale or Teesdale!

Numbers are strictly limited to 12 photographers, to ensure you get the shots you need. To keep prices down, your booking is non-refundable (however, it is possible to transfer your booking to someone else).

In the event of adverse weather (e.g. high winds, heavy rain, fog), the workshop will be postponed and you will be offered suitable alternatives.

After you make your booking, you will receive an email two days before the workshop. This email provides you with advice on equipment and notifying you of the meeting location.
