Event description

Description

Join me for a photography workshop, where you'll learn how to photograph landscapes, waterfalls, and other types of moving water including both long exposures and fast shutter speeds (available light will dictate which of these we spend most time on).

The 'Landscape Location Shoot' events are suitable for all experience levels, from total novices to experienced photographers. We progress at your own pace, and I'll work with you individually to set you some achievable goals, given your current ability. Where there are people of a similar level, you'll have the option of working in a small group.

If you're new to landscape and water photography, I'll get you up and running quickly. If you've been doing it for years, I'll give you some tasks to stretch you and take your skills to the next level.

Tuition will be offered on whatever equipment you bring, including filters.

Every location in this series has been chosen to offer different challenges and opportunities, with as little overlap as possible. While they all work very well as a standalone learning experience, they work even better as a series, for people who are looking to master this kind of photography.

We'll meet in Bowlees Visitor Centre, before heading out to Low Force and the surrounding area. As much as I like the sheer power of High Force, I've always thought there were many more photographic possibilities at Low Force. It's not just the waterfalls either, there are other unique features, both in and out of the water.

You'll need to provide your own camera, ideally a DSLR or CSC, although bridge cameras are also suitable. Tripods are optional, but would be useful if you have one, for long exposure shots of moving water.

Numbers are restricted to 12 photographers, so that you get plenty of individual support.

The workshop will go ahead with any number of participants, so the actual group size could be even smaller. That makes this event the perfect choice if you'd like more individual help than I'm able to provide in the larger groups.

Please note that in order to keep prices down, bookings are non-refundable if you're unable to come (but it may possible to transfer it to someone else, upon request). In the event of adverse weather, the workshop will be postponed, and you will be offered suitable alternatives.

Joining instructions will be sent to everyone around two days before the event. This gives me time to take account of any special factors, such as weather for outdoor courses. Also, as you might appreciate, I don't want to make those details available to the general public.

Book early to secure your place.
