Today is all about :-

  • ideas
  • beautiful locations
  • composing great landscapes
  • curiosity and discovery
  • seeing like a photographer,
  • understanding where to put things in a photo
  • watching and learning from a landscape pro
  • answering any of your questions

We’ll also have time for individual help – so please do bring along any questions and we’ll do what we can to answer them for you.

Who is it for?

downstream

This is a workshop for BEGINNERS and EXPERIENCED photographers, as everyone will enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the area.

We’ll take you around the stunning limestone Malham area of the Yorkshire dales, just 1-hour drive from Leeds – meeting at nearby GARGRAVE at 10:00, which will have our cameras in hand by 11AM

From there we’ll see many these great locations:-

  • Janet’s Foss
  • Gordale Scar
  • Malham Cove
  • Malham Tarn
  • Malham Rakes

The minimum equipment is:-

  • A camera and lens(es)
  • Fully charged batteries
  • Empty memory cards – back up your old photos first
  • Warm clothing
  • Walking boots – in case of mud and rocks
  • Snacks and drinks

Recommended optional equipment

  • Tripod
  • filters – polariser, ND filters, ND Grad filters
  • cable release

What happens on the day?

The plan is to enjoy a leisurely day at many locations, the walking is minimal and mostly on the level – so any level of fitness should be fine. We’ll not be stopping in any one location for more than an hour, so there will be no chance of getting bored!

Refreshments and toilets are sparse in the area – there is a public toilet at Malham Car Park and usually a sandwich and coffee van at Gordale Scar – so we do recommend bringing along snacks and drinks to keep you going.

Our end point will be at sunset above Malham at Malham Rakes – the exact finish time will depend on the weather, but should you need to leave earlier please just let us know – it’s not a problem at all.

Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
