About this event

  • 6 hours

Learn to weave a landscape. We will start by a short walk into surrounding countryside to observe, take photos or do quick sketches before you start your weaving. You work at your own pace with expert tuition from your workshop teacher, who will guide you about materials and techniques use. All materials are included.

Workshop Tutor - Riikka Katajamaki

I am a Textile Artist and a Hand weaver with nearly 20 years of experience in weaving and running workshops. I live and work in Mid Wales. I enjoy walking and birdwatching and I am a keen photographer, taking numerous pictures of nature and using these as inspiration source for my work.

Severn Gorge Countryside Trust

This workshop is being hosted by the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust, a local charity.

The Trust’s aim is to promote, protect and conserve the living landscape of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, which has a diverse range of habitats, including wildflower meadows, woodlands and heathlands. But that’s not all! We maintain over 20 kilometres of footpaths, conserve and protect 60 historic structures, run exciting Outdoor Learning and Volunteering Programmes to encourage local people and visitors to engage with the natural environment in a variety of ways.

All proceeds from this workshop will support the work of the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.

Our Outdoor Learning Programme 2024/2025

Get Creative with Nature!

Our Outdoor Learning Programme for 24/25 is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the environment through creative workshops and walks. Whether it’s letting your creativity flow, encouraging you to enjoy the simple pleasure of spending time outside in nature, or learning a new skill, there is something for everyone!

Engaging with nature has been well demonstrated to have positive effects on both mental and physical wellbeing. We hope that this in turn promotes the desire to protect and preserve the natural environment, for present and future generations.

Be inspired in nature’s classroom!
