Michael Noakes was President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Chairman of the Contemporary Portrait Society as well as being a Member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and a Freeman of the City of London. He was a notable landscape artist, painting them mainly for pleasure and this is the first time many of them have been exhibited together.
