Unlock the potential of non-speaking individuals with Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning (LAMP) approach - a dynamic, research-backed approach that harnesses neurological and motor learning principles to encourage independent, spontaneous communication. This engaging and enlightening course invites educators, therapists, and families to explore how motor planning supports language development for those who are non or minimally speaking.

Whilst the approach was originally developed for autistic communicators, it has been found to be as powerful with other non or minimally-speaking individuals across the globe.

What you can expect from the day:

  • A deep dive into the foundations of LAMP and why it works
  • Real-world video examples showcasing LAMP in action
  • Tips for overcoming sensory challenges and valuing personal interests
  • Insights into using Liberator AAC devices effectively
  • Practical strategies for teaching and tracking progress

📚 Learning Outcomes:

  • Define the role of readiness to learn and shared focus in the implementation of AAC with children with ASD and DD.
  • Explain the importance of using motor patterning to develop motor automaticity for children with ASD and DD who use AAC.
  • Examine multisensory convergence and the implications of how interference in this system disrupts speech and language development.
  • Discuss implementation strategies for teaching children with ASD and DD to use AAC.
  • Discuss strategies for analyzing the efficacy of communication treatment.

All who support non or minimally speaking people are welcome, inlcuding therapy teams, educators, families or support staff.

Liberator language systems and devices will be used to illustrate treatment components; however, LAMP principles can be applied to other products.
