The Canal and River Trust welcomes you to join our Language Walk and Talk on Wednesday 18th June starting from the National Waterways Musuem Gloucester.

All ar welcome, whatever language you speak. You'll be guided on a 90 minute canal walk followed by buffet lunch at the museum where you can hear stories from the group.

Led by our lovely local volunteers this walk is a place you can meet others and build meaningful connections by water. Walking creates space to connect, reflect, and support one another.

Please wear comfortable shoes, weather appropriate clothing and bring a bottle of water. Please let us know if you have any requirements or concerns.

Simple Acts are everyday actions we can all do to stand with refugees and make new connections in our communities

11:00 - Meet at the National Waterways Museum

11:00-12:30 - Canal Walk

12:30-13:30 - Lunch and storytelling

Please book one time slot per person. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booked slot. These sessions are designed for adults and for children from seven years old upwards as an introduction to walking and are easy grade along our amazing towpaths. Learn a bit of history or see some awesome wildlife which is around every turn on our waterways .

Parents and Guardians are required to accompany their children on this walk.

What do I need to wear?

Wear sensible shoes, weather appropriate clothing and bring a bottle of water.

Can children come?

Yes, children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult

Where can I park?

There are public car parks available nearby, including the Quays multi-storey and Southgate Moorings.

What will the surface be like underfoot?

Our towpath is generally well surfaced and suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and prams. In winter and wet weather expect some muddier sections. Walk leaders may adapt routes to better suit the group on the day for the most accessible experience.

Is there a toilet?

Yes, there is an accessible toilet and further facilities in the main museum where the walk starts and finishes and there may be public toilets available at other locations along the route.

Can I get refreshments?

We will provide tea and cake at our café in the National Waterways Museum after the walk.
