Event description

Description

What is this week's film?

Spanish film Güeros focusses on Tomas, who is too much for his lone mother to handle. She sends him to live with his older brother Federico, aka Sombra, in Mexico City.

"This moody and seductive black-and-white Mexican road movie is a meandering, circling tale that never looks less than gorgeous." - The Guardian

What is the Languages for All Film Club?

Now in its second year, the LfA Film Club provides an opportunity for students to mix and socialise. We hope the films will widen your knowledge and understanding of the cultural richness and diversity of other countries. Students studying the language of the films screened will have an opportunity to meet and practise their language skills in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

Each screening starts with a brief introduction to the film followed by the screening of the film. Following the screening, students are encouraged to have a brief discussion of the film. This provides the opportunity for those studying the language of the film to explore some aspects related to the film in that language. All discussions are held in English and all films will have English subtitles.

Can I come along?

Yes! Although set up for languages students at COL, all screenings are open to the public.

Is it free?

Yes, all screenings are free to attend.
