In collaboration with the Indian and Hindu Welfare Organisation and Northampton Business and Industry Development, we invite you to a series of workshops where we will create beautiful paper lanterns to be used in Northampton Light Festival! You're all invited to participate in the festival and parade itself and you also have the chance to have your lantern displayed in local businesses along the parade route!
Come along to the Student Study Area in the Creative Hub (Ground Floor) and make friends while creating colourful paper lanterns to celebrate Diwali!
Everyone is welcome and the more lanterns the better!!!!
We will have printed templates that can be used directly or traced onto other materials.
Scissors, glue and limited materials will be provided but please bring along any tools or spare materials you think you may need.There is provision of limited materials but bringing items from the list below may help if supplies run low:
-Scissors
-PVA or UHU glue
-Spare card (even cereal boxes and spare cardboard etc)
-String/twine
-Lollipop sticks/wooden sticks (for reinforcing)
-Decorative tape/washi tape
Extra materials that may make creation easier or to elevate the lantern to look its very best:
-Craft knife and cutting mat
-Decorative tassels
-Acrylic paint and paintbrushes
-any small battery operated fairy lights you are happy to be used for the parade
Remember! Its a celebration of LIGHT so please bring anything sparkly, colourful or bright that can be used to decorate your lantern!
