PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SESSION IS BEING DELIVERED ONLINE ON 2 & 9 July 2021, WITH THE CONTENT SPLIT INTO FOUR SESSIONS - 10.00-12.00 & 14.00-16.00 EACH DAY.

Designed For

All those with supervisory responsibilities under LAA contracts, or those taking the role on for the first time.

Designed To

Help you meet a key component in securing and then effectively operating your legal aid contract and meeting the LAA's supervisor standards. The course specifically meets Section 2(ii) (Generic Supervisor Requirements) of the LAA's supervisor standards.

You Will Learn

  • The LAA’s requirements to be accepted as a supervisor
  • How to fill in supervisor forms - with practical help
  • What the LAA’s crime and civil contracts require supervisors to do
  • Danger areas in the 2017 crime and 2018 civil contracts
  • How to use file review to protect your organisation from audits
  • How to plan and manage work to ensure it is financially viable
  • How to set and monitor targets
  • Effective performance management techniques
  • Feedback and communication skills
  • How to keep up to date with LAA changes

Course tutors

The course tutors are Matthew Howgate and Vicky Ling, experienced sector trainers and consultants, who are lead tutors on the LAPG Certificate of Practice Management.
