About this event

Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533) is one of the most important Italian writters of the Renaissance. He is the author of Orlando Furioso (The Frenzy of Orlando or Raging Roland), a major work of European literature.

The chivalric literature was born in the XIth century with the French and English Chansons de Geste and Courteous romance. It is, however, in Italy that the genre expends and finishes.

Maxime Castro will first present us the author, and will then focus on the epic story of the chivalry genre in Europe, particularly in France and in the UK, then to focus on l’Ariosto, between literary inheritance and the brand new narrative codes.
