About

Step into an evening where radical imagination meets creative action. Join artist and filmmaker Larry Achiampong to celebrate the release of his debut monograph, ‘If It Don’t Exist, Build,’ (Tate Publishing, 2025). He’ll be joined by an inspiring lineup of friends and visionaries—Amahra Spence, Shay Thompson, and moderator Neba Sere—for a lively conversation exploring world-building as a powerful tool for storytelling and social change.

Expect bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and a space where art, architecture, and activism collide.

Sounds by DJ Repeat Beat Poet DJ Repeat Beat Poet will play the best sounds from across the African diaspora. So feel free to dance, groove, tap or nod along to some infectious beats.

More than a talk, this is a gathering. A space for building worlds, sharing knowledge, and where ideas meet play. Come through. Be inspired. Let’s build.

Play and Reflect: Engage with an interactive gaming station curated by Larry from his personal video game archive.

Critical Reading Installation: Explore texts that have shaped the critical and creative thinking of Larry and other artists.

Chilled & Sober Vibes: Enjoy a relaxed, alcohol-free environment—come as you are and connect with others in a space designed for deep thought and open conversation.

This event is curated by Dr. Janine Francois of the Mobile Agencies/ Pedagogies based within The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.
