Laptop Stand Workshop Overview

The Laptop Stand Workshop is a hands-on, creative session designed for participants of all skill levels who want to build a functional and aesthetically pleasing laptop stand. The workshop provides step-by-step guidance through the process of creating a custom wooden stand.

Workshop Activities:

  1. Assembly & Gluing – Using high-quality wood glue, attendees will assemble the components of their stand, learning proper techniques for alignment and durability.
  2. Sanding & Smoothing – All surfaces and edges will be sanded to remove roughness and prepare the wood for finishing.
  3. Finishing Techniques – Participants will choose between wax or wood stains to enhance the natural grain, add color, and protect the surface.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Hands-on experience with woodworking tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of sanding and finishing methods
  • Ability to create a personalized, professional-looking laptop stand

This series of workshops is intended to introduce new users to the fabrication technology available at the University's Maker Space. Users are then permitted to use the equipment independently with the assistance of technical staff only if required.
