Guest speaker: Mark Pentleton (Managing Director, Radio Lingua Ltd.)
Title: “A Coffee Break Conversation: what we’ve learned teaching a million language learners”
BIo: Mark Pentleton is the director of Radio Lingua and is the creator of the Coffee Break language courses. Mark taught French and Spanish in East Renfrewshire before directing the Partners in Excellence Virtual Centre of Languages for East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and Argyll & Bute Councils. His work in creative language learning and technology was recognised by Apple and he worked with the Apple European Education team for a number of years. He founded Radio Lingua in 2006 through a desire to share his love of languages with a wider audience and has since grown the company to deliver over 200 million language lessons across 31 languages. Mark has been awarded two European Awards for Languages, the European Professional Podcasting Award and the Coffee Break podcasts have been “Best of iTunes” on numerous occasions. A passionate language enthusiast, Mark speaks French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, Norwegian, Swedish (to varying levels!) and has dabbled in many more. He is currently learning Greek.
