Late Talkers - Parent Information Session: NHS Tayside Speech and Language Therapy

NHS Tayside Speech and Language Therapy Service offers an informal parent/carer information session to help answer questions which you may have about your pre-school (0- 3 yrs 11m) child's language development:

- Am I doing the right things?

- What can I do to help?

- What have other parents tried?

- Where can I get help?

- What else could I try?

- Should I just wait and see?

- Will my child catch up?

This is for parents/carers of children aged under 3years 11months.

What to expect at the session:

- Information about your role in supporting your child's language development

- Information about typical language development

- Strategies to use during daily activities and to make communication more fun

- Research findings about screen time and the use of technology with young children

This session may not be as useful for you if your child is talking in sentences and is simply having difficulty with speech sound production.

This session may not be as useful if you are concerned with your child's social communication e.g. poor eye contact, repetitive play, or if they have a known diagnosis such as Autism. However all parents are welcome to attend.

The session will last approximately 2 hours and you will have the opportunity to speak with a Speech and Language Therapist.

Please note, these small group information sessions are for adults only and your child should not attend.

There will be an opportunity to book on a second session that your child will be invited along to as well you will get details of this at the Adult only session.

If you have any additional questions please telephone the department on 01307475060.
