Welcome to Later Life Benefits - An Overview!
Join us for an overview of the benefits for later life, disabilty and carers in England. This 90 minute online event will help you to understand the benefit system and learn how to identify and claim benefit entitlement.
Who is this event for?
This event is for anyone who wants to understand the ‘benefit system’.
If you want to know what you can claim or how to advise a client on the benefits that they may be entitled to, then this event is for you.
What is the aim?
The aim is to help you identify and claim benefit entitlement for you and your clients.
What will you learn about?
Basic benefits – Learn the basic structure, what's available, which benefits are means tested and which are not! Understand the administration of the benefit system – who does what, how and when to contact them
Disability Living Allowance – We will cover the basic criteria, assessment process and how this non means tested benefits is payable in variety of care settings.
Personal Independence Payment – Understand this benefit, the criteria, assessment and how it will affect those in receipt of DLA
Attendance Allowance-We will explain the criteria and explain how this is payable in variety of care settings to help you understand who may be able to claim this non measn tested benefit.
Pension credit – A basic overview of this means tested benefit to help you understand potential entitlement and the effects of changes in circumstances.
Carers Allowance - We will explain the criteria and who may benefit from claiming this non means tested benefit.
Help with Council Tax - Learn to identify potential help with Council tax.
Where is it?
This is an online Zoom event that will last for 90 minutes, including a short break and questions
Presenter
This event will be presented by Nicola Taylor who is a Care Funding and Benefits Adviser and the owner of Care Navigators. Nik has an in depth knowledge of the care system and as a specialist welfare benefits adviser she helps people to understand the care and benefit system and claim their benefit entitlement.
