OK, I'll come. How do I get to this place?

When you leave quiet, bucolic Angel tube station, cross the 8 lanes of shrieking traffic using the traffic lights provided. Walk up Chapel Market (the road between M&S and Waitrose, off Liverpool Road), then after a little while, turn left down White Lion Street. The venue is in the pub's back room.

Is the venue accessible?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Unlike every single other comedy night in GREAT BRITAIN, this one is on the ground floor, NOT upstairs, NOT downstairs. AND there is a disabled loo on the ground floor too. So you'll be able to do your business, and THEN watch the comics do theirs (which is standup comedy, to be clear).

Will there be a break?

You bet your sweet aunt there will be! Roughly halfway through, we will allow 15 minutes for the audience (and hell, maybe the acts) to resume drinking, vaping, and taking selfies with local dignitaries like their social lives depend on it.

Question 4

Will it be FUNNY or the usual lineup of ppl with no self-awareness WHOM it's painful to watch/hear?

Accepted Answer

It will 100% be FUNNY. Here at LAUGHCOM, we believe that having 350 acts in an open mic setting is a FALSE economy. Instead, we have handpicked people we have SEEN being entertaining. Yay! While every effort has been made to remove unfunny acts, one or two who are not to your taste may remain.

What's the setlist? I only want to see my friend Deb go up then I'll leave without buying a drink!

We will reveal the setlist or 'lineup' on the night - this is not ONLY to be mysterious, but also because COMICS, sometimes, for reasons beyond their self-control, are late or don't turn up at all and need to be replaced. Don't feel sorry for them, for they are already DEAD INSIDE.

Question 6

Is this going to be a murmuration of WHITE MEN all twisting this way and that like a cloud of flies?

Accepted Answer

No! Apart from me, the MC (hi!), many, perhaps even the majority, of the acts will NOT be WHITE MEN.

Question 7

If I sit in the front row, will I be belittled by a comedian from his (or her) bully pulpit?

Accepted Answer

No, I wouldn't have thought so. If you are spoken to, and you don't want to participate, simply make the international distress signal (cross your wrists over your face) and the comedian will shrug and move on with the act.

Question 8

Will there be heckling?

Accepted Answer

Gosh I hope not. It's pretty rare in London. But just in case, at the beginning I will remind everyone in the audience that I will defend to the death your right to heckle me, the MC, but not the acts. They are only there to share observations and make you laugh, and heckling can spoil the effect.
