Lindsey Holland ‘The Lanterns’
The Lanterns tells the story of the poet’s great-great-grandfather, John Jones, a nineteenth century mariner, in poems of seafaring, desire and the conflicts between them. The poems resurrect him, blending the known facts of his life with richly imagined likelihoods.
Paul Deaton’s ‘Black Knight’
Poems that evoke seasonal change and watchful awareness of the universe to plot an emergent path from family and lost love.
Kimberley Campanello ‘Hymn to Kali’
A powerful new version of the ancient Sanskrit text, emerging form her fascination with her research into yoga, meditation and tantra.
Ken Evans ‘The Opposite of Defeat’
Poems arising from moments of transition and ‘missed steps', leaving the solidity of a safe tread before alighting on the step below, with always the potential for a headlong plunge.
