Bristol’s community organisations are pioneering bold and equitable community-led climate action in Bristol. Join Bristol Green Capital Partnership, and representatives of Bristol’s diverse community organisations to celebrate the launch of Bristol’s first Community Climate Action plans and the leadership role Bristol communities are taking in the response to the climate crisis.

Throughout 2021, six community organisations representing some of Bristol’s most disadvantaged communities co-produced community climate action plans with and for their communities as part of the lottery-funded Bristol Community Climate Action project. The plans identify key priorities to help deliver Bristol’s 2030 carbon neutral ambition, whilst simultaneously improving the quality of life for local residents as the city recovers from the Covid pandemic and the country aspires to ‘level up’ inequality.

Why community-led climate action?

We can’t solve the climate crisis without community. Community organisations showed real leadership during the pandemic and they are an important element of our local, national and global response to the climate and ecological crises. The Bristol Community Climate Action Project puts communities at the heart of fast and fair climate action in Bristol.

This March, join Bristol Green Capital Partnership and partners to explore:

how to engage diverse communities with the climate emergency;
the process of co-creating a community climate action plan; and
the climate and quality of life priorities held by different Bristol communities

We’ll hear first-hand from community practitioners pioneering climate action in Bristol, and experience stories and creations from community climate heroes from across the city.
