6.00pm – 7.00pm
Lecture by Dr Christopher Wakeling

7.00pm – 8.00pm
Drinks and opportunity to meet the author

Despite the loss of very large numbers of chapels in the past half-century, there are still around 20,000 nonconformist congregations in England.

Chapels of England is the first substantial synoptic account of nonconformist church architecture in England. It includes examples from the seventeenth century to the present day, covering all parts of the country and each of the main religious traditions within nonconformity. The book sets these examples in the architectural, religious and cultural context of the development of English nonconformity.

Christopher's lecture will be followed by drinks and a chance to talk to him about the book.

Chapels of England will be published by Historic England.
