Event description
Beta launch of a new baseline Green Infrastructure mapping database for England - part of the emerging National Framework of GI Standards

About this event

Discover how Green Infrastructure (GI) mapping can support place making for health and wellbeing, nature and climate change and help deliver beautiful, prosperous communities.

This event will provide a demonstration of a new, online, free, interactive baseline map of Green and Blue Infrastructure across England (beta version), for release to Local Planning Authorities and GI stakeholders. The GI Mapping is a key component in the emerging Green Infrastructure Standards Framework, being developed by Natural England, and which is a commitment in the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan. Natural England is making the online mapping tool and 15 Principles for GI available to Local Planning Authorities ahead of the main launch of the full Green Infrastructure Standards Framework in summer 2022, to help them to incorporate GI into Local Plans with all local areas requiring up-to-date Local Plans by December 2023.

Natural England worked with Defra, Environment Agency and Forestry Commission and commissioned RSK ADAS and West Country Rivers Trust to deliver the beta mapping tool.

The event will feature a key note speech from Alan Law, Deputy Chief Executive of Natural England and a demonstration of the mapping tool. There will also be a live panel Q&A session.

It will be streamed live on YouTube - please click on the link on the event page. You can submit questions via Slido.com using #GIMapping
