Let's Talk about Values is the latest addition to the Iniva and A Space range of Emotional Learning Cards. This set was commissioned by Opossum, a federation of primary schools in north London. The cards provide a starting point to support reflection, discussion and art making in the classroom or therapy sessions, and are suitable for Key Stage 2 onwards. They can be used in a variety of contexts by teachers, therapists, mentors, psychologists and parents/carers.
A Space was established in 1997 by Alex Sainsbury (Glass-House Trust), the Social Science Research Unit (SSRU, University of London) and Hackney Education (now The Hackney Learning Trust). A Space provides therapy services and emotional learning projects to schools and contributes to the field of child and adolescent psychotherapy by engaging in research, delivering CPD, writing books and articles and co-publishing resources with Iniva. 2017 also marks the 15th anniversary of the A Space / Iniva partnership.
Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) is an evolving, radical visual arts organisation dedicated to developing an artistic programme that reflects on the social and political impact of globalization. With the Stuart Hall Library acting as a critical and creative hub for our work, we collaborate with artists, curators, researchers and cultural producers to challenge conventional notions of diversity and difference. We engage a wide audience, particularly young people, in discourse and debate on issues surrounding the politics of race, class and gender.
Iniva Creative Learning evolved out of a long standing partnership between Iniva and A Space. Our experience comes from over 10 years of jointly delivering art education and therapy services for schools and community groups in East London. Iniva Creative Learningreflects the belief that contemporary art can stimulate and challenge our understanding of the world around and within us. We produce art focused learning resources to support teachers, counsellors, therapists, art educators and parents.
All of our Emotional Learning Cards sets will be available for purchase at the launch or order online now: www.iniva.org/learning
