This is a free event to celebrate the launch of the new Lewisham LGBT+ Forum, including speakers to celebrate National Coming Out Day, Black History Month, National Hate Crime Awareness Week and World Mental Health Day.
Confirmed speakers at the event are Lady Phyll - organiser of UK Black Pride and speaking about the role of LGBT community in Black History Month, Natacha Kennedy - Goldsmiths Fellow speaking about supporting transgender people in school environments, Mark Healey from 17-24-30 speaking about National Hate Crime Awareness Week and a speaker from Naz talking about mental health relating to the LGBTQ community.
The event will be held in the council chambers and will be followed by light refreshments provided in the foyer area.
The forum is a community led group working together with partnership agencies and organisations in order to expand the knowledge base of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning community in Lewisham about what services and events are available to access and attend. We aim to help organise events and publicity around important dates in the LGBT+ calendar such as LGBT History Month, National Hate Crime Awareness Week, Transgender Day of Remembrance and Pride events etc. We also aim to improve the lives of the LGBT+ community in Lewisham via consultations, cross referring and being an advisory hub that agencies can contact.
The forum is open to the community and LGBT+ identifying residents and workers are welcome to attend and participate.
If if you have any access needs or concerns please contact us.
