Full Circle Education are the first organisation in Wales to launch a Manifesto for Girls' Rights, calling for improved rights for girls and young women, and a recognition of the challenges still facing girls across the country. The manifesto outlines a range of actions we will strive towards to elevate and empower girls and young women.
Full Circle conducted a survey of over 600 young women across Wales which paints an extremely worrying picture of girls’ lives. Over 60% of respondents felt that girls and young women in Wales do not have the same rights and opportunities as men and boys. 91% of respondents stated they had experienced body image concerns; 70% stated that they had experienced sexism and sexual harassment; and 75% mental health problems.
We've partnered with Plan International UK, one of the leading children's charities in the UK, and WEN Wales, the Women's Equality Network, to launch our Manifesto for Girls' Rights and Plan's seminal and groundbreaking research 'The State of Girls' Rights in the UK' which included Wales for the first time in 2016.
Join us for the launch of the manifesto and Plan's research to celebrate International Day of the Girl 2016 at the National Assembly for Wales, kindly sponsored by Julie Morgan AM. Hear from girls and young women about their experiences, and learn more about what it's like to be a girl growing up in Wales. Lunch is provided, and young people are also welcome to attend - contact us at info@FullCircleEducation.org to discuss bringing larger groups.
