Programme theme: Research Leadership, Gender Diversity and Epistemic Injustice
We are delighted to announce the official launch of the Female Academic Network for Africa Research and International Collaboration, taking place on 10th November 2025.
This initiative builds on the momentum of the 2024 Females in Academics conference, jointly organised by the University of Glasgow, Babcock University, the University of Ibadan, and the University of Lagos. The conference brought together 60 academic researchers from 13 institutions across Nigeria's Western Region to discuss challenges facing female scholars and chart a way forward. Highlights from the event can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTwSIFVQX6E.
The new network will serve as a collaborative, interdisciplinary platform to support female academics, strengthen international partnerships, and promote research excellence across Africa.
Agenda Highlights Include:
- Opening remarks from partner institutions
- Presentation of key insights from the 2024 Females in Academics conference
- Introduction to the Network’s vision, objectives, and structure
- Panel discussion: Bridging Research Gaps – Voices of African Female Scholars
- Breakout sessions for collaborative project ideas and mentoring initiatives
- Closing remarks and next steps
Thanks to funding from the Adam Smith Business School Esteem Grant and the Cogito Epistemic Research Centre, we are proud to invite you to join us for this exciting launch event.
