Summer of STEM is a competition for schools anywhere in the North Somerset / Somerset / B&NES / S Glous / Bristol area. This launch event on 12th June is for anyone who is interested in having teams take part in the competition.
At the session you will be introduced to the project and competition rules by having a go yourself at the challenge. You will leave the session with a FREE resource box that you can use to launch and run the competition within your school. The challenge requires students to work together in teams and will involve constructing a vehicle to travel along an 8 metre long wire suspended above the ground, carrying an egg.
The date of the Summer of STEM final will be later in the summer term on a date agreed by all participants at the launch event, so bring your diary. Refreshments will be provided. The whole competition is free of charge for all participating schools.
To register your interest in the Summer of STEM, please come along to this launch event on the 12th June at Worle School (BS22 8XX). The registration process is very easy, simply follow the "Register" link above.
Summer of STEM is being co-ordinated by Alexis Hunter-Craig from Worle School. Following feedback from the STEM club CPD session that ran in March 2012, STEM activity ideas and practical suggestions on how to run these STEM activities was identified as a real need. The Summer of STEM aims to address some of those needs and create a community of teachers interested in developing more STEM activity in the area.
