Organizer

The UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) is a new institute providing radical thinking about public policy driven by public purpose.

IIPP will challenge the economic orthodoxy that limits policymaking to the correction of market failures. Instead it will develop a market-making framework in which value is co-created and shaped by different actors in the public, private and third sectors.

The network will be built on a new theoretical and practical framework that better enables to envision, justify, measure and assess public investments. We will offer a new lens through which to approach these grand challenges.

Founded and directed by Mariana Mazzucato, Professor in the Economics of Innovation & Public Value, and author of the highly acclaimed book The Entrepreneurial State, the Institute is currently in its start-up phase with an official launch date on 12th October 2017.
