Within this session we will look at using the Launchpad for Literacy Skills Framework in order to establish starting points with language development, to identify gaps and set next steps. How this fits in with, and can sit alongside, the new Development Matters will be also be discussed.

We will talk about how having a greater understanding of children’s ‘gaps’ can be used within our interactions and language enrichment, to create targeted opportunities within our learning environment and our focussed activities. By doing so, we will enable specific skills to be developed, gaps to be closed and interventions to be embedded through Targeted Practice.

This session is aimed at EYFS Leads and Teachers, although Phonic & English Leads and SENDCos may also wish to attend. KS1 Practitioners working with children who have a high level of Literacy and/or Speech, Language & Communication need may also wish to attend.
