Law and ethics of reporting the pandemic
Event Information
About this Event
The Covid-19 outbreak has caused major disruption around the world and become the biggest news story of a generation. Journalists are facing new challenges in all aspects of their work, including new laws and rules for the way we work, as well as a raft of ethical considerations in dealing with people affected by the outbreak.
Media Law expert David Banks leads this essential two-hour webinar for reporters, examining the legal and ethical rules that we should consider at a time of heightened sensitivity.
This encompasses both existing and new laws that we must observe, and also privacy, confidentiality and ethical issues when dealing with the bereaved and those suffering from Covid19 as well as hospitals and medical staff.
Who is the workshop for?
The workshop is for working journalists and communications professionals in the UK whose work involves reporting on or sharing information about the coronavirus pandemic, or who are working, reporting or taking photographs during the lockdown.
