Event description

Description

Professor Nick Hardwick - Chair of the Parole Board for England and Wales

They Would Have Been Hanged

The death penalty was abolished in the UK in 1965. The last execution was carried out in 1964.

Legally, practically and morally how do we decide how those who commit the most heinous offences should be treated?

Rightly consigned to history, the death penalty has been replaced with high security prison system and parole processes, but do we understand or discuss these systems enough?

Wednesday 7 March 2018
18:00 - 19:00 (arrival and refreshments from 17:30)
Location - Rose Bowl, City Campus
