About this event

Lazy Sunday Leisurely Walk around the historic buildings of Dalkeith

Join us for a guided walk around historic Dalkeith.

We'll meet outside the Town Gate of Dalkeith Country Park for a leisurely walk to learn about the town's interesting past and hear stories of those who lived and died there. After the walk, unwind with tea and home-made cakes in Dalkeith Museum. At the museum you will have time to explore the exhibits and artefacts that bring Dalkeith’s rich heritage to life.

We look forward to seeing you!

Dalkeith History Society was set up in 1975 by the then Provost, David Smith.

Over the years the History Society has built up a fascinating collection of artefacts reflecting the local history and heritage of the area. Items from this collection are displayed in Dalkeith Museum.

Dalkeith Museum is located in the rear of Dalkeith Corn Exchange and has its entrance in St Andrew Street. The restoration of the corn exchange building was completed in March 2016. A 3 year funded project enabled the Grade A listed Victorian building to be fully repaired and restored, and to incorporate a bespoke museum facility for the town.

The museum is run by Dalkeith History Society and is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers.
