Sam qualified in 1996 and has provided audit and advisory services to schools and charities for over 20 years. Her various trustee and governor roles have given her tremendous insight into the practical challenges facing boards and senior leadership teams when adopting best practice in financial governance and risk.

Her interest in financial governance and risk has developed over many years. She has written on the topic and spoken at conferences for both the charity and the education sector for many years. These are challenging times for the education sector as financial models are being stress tested, risk management is proving to be less effective and boards are becoming Increasingly risk averse and rigid when they are needing to be more creative and agile.
