Saturday 10 December
London College of Communication invites you to CGP London, Dilston Grove, London, SE16 2DD for a symposium and afternoon of performances from MA Sound Arts during the course's Postgraduate Show.
1pm Symposium with Sam Belinfante and Lisa Hall
The symposium will focus on the role of sound in relation to the everyday, the domestic and notions of care. With talks from Sam Belinfante and Lisa Hall, as well as contributions from the artists and the Course Leader Thomas Gardner, chaired by the exhibition's curator Irene Revell. The symposium will also be an opportunity to engage directly with the artists' research, with the display of their research posters and through direct conversation, a unique facet of the course.
2.45pm Performances by Khaled Kaddal, Leanne Cunningham and Ilia Rogatchevski
Khaled Khaddal’s multipartite performance project, CODE 03 and CODE 20, explores the psychological impact of the belliphonic on the listener during transformative socio-political events, and CODE 20 will be performed this afternoon. Leanne Cunningham’s performance installation evokes a new set-up of dialogue, as an alternative archive of personal knowledge. Ilia Rogatchevski’s work, through a series of ‘mute radio objects’ and live radio transmissions, invites the presence of the pure earth signal into the exhibition space, and explores the simultaneous nature of radio as ever-present, yet only accessible through specific mediating technologies.
Refreshments will be provided.
