What is my practice? What do I offer? How do I see my practice evolving in the coming 2/3/5 years and as a longer career? We talk with established Northern dance professionals who have gone through the process of finding and establishing their careers. We all have stories to share and the networking opportunity that follows the seminar will enable you to discuss at length with your peers.
Despite the easing of Covid-19 restrictions nationally, for your safety Yorkshire Dance will be keeping several Covid safety measures in place in the coming weeks. We ask that in the interest of every attendee's safety and wellbeing, face coverings continue to be worn (unless exempt) and social distancing is observed. Join Leeds Dance Partnership every month to enjoy a series of free talks by dance and arts industry experts designed to help develop your dance career. Whether a professional or enthusiast, everyone is welcome. You can attend in person at Yorkshire Dance in central Leeds or join us for the livestream online.
Each seminar focuses on key themes and includes a range of subject areas such as building and demystifying networks and partnerships, knowing your practice and working with other artists/artforms. Our speakers are all experts in their field and include Gary Clarke (Gary Clarke Company), Rachel Fullegar (Gracefool), freelance fundraiser Pam Johnson, digital innovator Sean Clarke (Test Card).

Leeds Dance Partnership delivers a range of initiatives, projects and commissions to grow and develop dance in Leeds and the wider North. Its core aims are:
- To create a climate where shared visions can be realised; seek ways to support the independent dance sector; establish capital needs in the city; and advocate effectively for dance in Leeds
- To develop the workforce of the sector to ensure that future generations of dance leaders can thrive in Leeds and the North
- To reimagine the relationship between artists, producers, venues and audiences, bringing these together with national developments in the future of showcasing
- To focus on building venue capacity for programming dance and growing audiences
Future Goals
Leeds Dance Partnership is currently fundraising to deliver a second strand of work focusing on:
- Supporting a cohesive learning and engagement offer across Leeds and the North, working with Bridge organisations, local cultural and education partnerships, Artforms Leeds and Leeds Dance Network
- Working with universities in the region to develop a cohesive approach to research and intelligence
- Investigating ways in which dance can further impact health and physical activity and cross over with sports development, in association with Sport Leeds Board, Public Health and others
