 'Crisis & Business Continuity Management:

What is it & Why Do We Bother?'

Led by: Alan Ross, Strategic Risk Management Consultant, Zurich Municipal

The third sector is changing fast. As leaders we know how important it is to keep pace with the challenges and opportunities presented.

This breakfast series of Leader Learning events focus on specific developmental and learning themes and comprise short, sharp seminars led by subject matter experts followed by peer discussion and input.

Crisis & business continuity management (BCM) go hand in hand. When an organisation is faced with a challenge or crisis e.g. a data breach this often leads to a business continuity incident. If an organisation is not prepared for continuity incidents normal business is disrupted, large amounts of resource are required to resolve the issue and reputation is damaged.

In this session, we will look at some key business and reputational risks and how having a crisis management plan can help mitigate these. We will explore what is involved and gain practical tips, tools and templates to ensure you as a leader are able to create a suitable business continuity plan for your organisation. There will also be an opportunity to discuss communications and how to engage with stakeholders efficiently and effectively to minimise reputational damage should such an incident occuer.

You will gain:

  • Overview of crisis management & BCM – what is it, why do we bother?
  • Examples of incidents & reputational risks to consider and bring into an effective crisis management plan
  • Common challenges in responding effectively
  • Case studies to discuss best practice in responding to a major disruption, e.g. a major fire at their main site or a data breach incident

This event is open to all Third Sector leaders and senior staff - Members and Non-Members of ACOSVO - so please circulate to your local networks!
