Leadership and Authority: Does Gender Make a Difference? (MDT)
Mon 3 July 2017, 09:30 – 15:00 BST
All clergy exercise authority and are called to lead their community in mission, but how this authority and leadership are exercised in practice can be challenging. Sometimes gender seems to play a significant part: perhaps men and women work with different understandings? How far are our experiences shaped by tradition, upbringing or others’ assumptions?
This all-day event will help us to reflect on the theology of leadership and authority with a particular opportunity to explore how gender might be relevant. There will be opportunities to draw on and share our own experiences, both positive and where we have struggled as those who lead and have authority as well as those being ‘under authority’. It will aim to help equip participants with more confidence in building fruitful relationships with fellow clergy and parishioners.
This will be led by The Revd Dr Emma Ineson, Principal at Trinity College Bristol.
