Description

Fostering creativity and innovation within your organisation

Once a quarter we invite selected business managers and leaders to get together for an informal and light-hearted look at a leadership topic. For this event we will be focusing on creativity and innovation and how to foster an environment within your organisation that genuinely recognises their importance as critical business skills

So – what’s the difference between creativity and innovation and why do they matter within today’s businesses?

According to Harvard Business Review; “Creativity is about coming up with the big idea. Innovation is about executing the idea — converting the idea into a successful business” and the article goes on to stress the importance of having robust implementation processes so that creative ideas can be realised – rather than becoming nothing more than a bunch of great ideas

In Psychology Today; Mark Batey writes that “creativity is the essential skillset for the future” and describes:

“Against a backdrop of uncertainty, economic turmoil and unprecedented change a new picture is emerging of the skills and traits for success (and perhaps even simply survival) in the modern era. At the heart of this essential skillset for the future lies... creativity.

A raft of recent research studies demonstrates that creativity is vital from the shopfloor to the boardroom and at the level of the individual to the organisation as a whole”

There is plenty of academic and business research that demonstrates how important is it that we foster an environment that allows ourselves and our teams to get creative and innovative – but exactly how do we do that? And how do we protect and enhance this approach as we grow; to ensure that it isn’t stifled beneath layers of bureaucracy and rules?

We will once again be hosting the event in the magnificent Avery’s wine cellars to swop thoughts, ideas and suggestions over a glass of wine. You are welcome to arrive from 5.30pm for a glass of wine, bread and cheese. The event will begin promptly at 6pm and finish at 8pm

What is a Leadership Community Round Table Event?

Our vision at The Leadership School is to create a community of local business managers and leaders who are there to support (and sometimes challenge) each other. We know that managers and leaders can sometimes feel isolated or disconnected and believe that the challenges we face are ‘ours’ and are not also being faced by others

In reality we often all face similar challenges and it can be reassuring to be able to discuss what these are with like-minded people who are ready to share their thoughts, experiences and ideas

Our aim is to create a community of local managers and leaders from a wide-range of different industries; who get together to develop their own leadership skills, share ideas and experiences and connect together

These free-of-charge invitation only quarterly events are opportunities not to sell your business but to connect with others. There are no ‘one-minute’ rounds and the focus is on relaxing, having fun and connecting with each other to build supportive relationships

You are welcome to arrive from 5.30pm for a glass of wine and some nibbles. The event will begin promptly at 6pm and finish at 8pm
