This event will provide you with really good practical examples of Leadership Development. Including real life examples of how to identify learning needs, design training content, engage with the Executive Board to gain their buy-in and support and the actual delivery of Learning & Development solutions that deliver real value to both an individual and business. This is an informative and interactive session where you will learn new things as well as participate in sharing your own thoughts on things.
Clare Burles is People Director at Virgin Trains East Coast. Clare has extensive experience of both operational and strategic HR. She is also an Executive Team Member and she actively participates in the in the overall leadership and strategy of the company by working closely with the Managing Director and his direct reports, this includes recruiting and developing Executive Team Development. Clare is creative, engaging, inspiring and dedicated to achieving successful outcomes both for the company and the people working within.
Ann Sherlock is a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and works for SHERLOCK HR LTD. She is an experienced Enabler, Leader, Facilitator, Trainer, Coach, and HR Director. Experienced at operating as at senior levels within large, complex, multi-site companies, including East Midlands Trains, Network Rail, Virgin Trains, HSBC, HFC Bank, Beneficial Bank, Sutton Coldfield College and Transpennie Express. Clare and Ann will share with you some of their personal insights and top tips on enabling Executive Team Development as well as leading an HR Function.
Registration and refreshments
Please arrive at 18:00 for registration, a buffet will be available for all delegates at this time. The event will then run from 18:30 to 20:30.

Places can be cancelled up to 1 week before the event, after that any non-member delegate fee is non-refundable

The CIPD Birmingham branch provides opportunities for its 2500 members to network with local HR and L& D professionals, to continue with their professional development and remain up to date with HR issues. Unless otherwise stated branch events are free for CIPD members to attend, and there is a non-member fee of £15 which must be paid online when booking.
Birmingham branch is part of the CIPD Midlands Area Partnership (MAP) which holds an Annual Midlands Event in October. The 2017 event will take place on Saturday 7 October at Chesford Grange Hotel in Warwickshire. MAP is also organising a Midlands Student Conference Empowering the Future Leaders of HR on Saturday 11 March at Aston University. You can find out more on the MAP events website.
