Leadership Lunch & Learn: Balancing the urgent with the important
Date and time
Location
The Cabinet Office, Conference Room A
70 Whitehall London SW1A 2AS United KingdomDescription
This is the second session in the series of 'GCS Leadership Lunch & Learn' events, designed to share expertise and experience amongst developing leaders across GCS in an informal, discursive environment over the lunch hour.
It will be delivered by graduates of the Inspire senior talent programme.
This month’s session: Balancing the urgent with the important
"When it comes to time, one can only manage oneself in relation to it." A.Mackenzie
Do you suffer from any of the below?
- Constant rushing (e.g. between meetings or tasks)
- Frequent delays (e.g. in attending meetings, meeting deadlines)
- Low productivity, energy and motivation (e.g. ‘I can’t seem to get worked up about anything’)
- Frustration (e.g. ‘Oh, things just don’t move ahead)
- Impatience (e.g. ‘where the hell is that information I’ve asked him for?’)
- Chronic vacillation between alternatives
80% of people say they spend most of their time on urgent requirements and they do not have time to focus on important, longer-term work.
Come to this session to reflect on your time management strategy and how to better balance your urgent tasks against the really important ones.
Who's it for:
This event is for GCS members who lead in any capacity, be it a whole team or part of a project, and comes from the belief that we should all take the time for self-reflection as leaders.
