This programme aims to provide you with the opportunity to practice and develop your non-clinical skills including leadership and management of complex scenarios with colleagues of different professional backgrounds in an authentic but safe learning environment. As a secondary objective, it is envisaged that by providing multi professional training this will improve mutual understanding and collaboration across disciplines and professions as you move into leadership roles, ultimately improving patient care and working relationships.
All attendees go through selected simulated scenarios focussing on a variety of challenging psychiatric presentations as well as complex non-clinical scenarios including team dynamics and supervisory roles of leadership. At the end of the training session all attendees should be able to achieve the following learning objectives:
- Demonstrate safe assessment and management of complex psychiatric scenarios, including risk assessment, appropriate use of necessary legal frameworks
- To demonstrate the ability to work effectively with colleagues, including team working
- Develop appropriate leadership skills
- Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours to manage time and problems effectively
- Ensure that you act in a professional manner at all times
The Multidisciplinary Leadership Simulator is made up of 4 stations each lasting for 30 minutes. The simulation runs for 15 minutes, with one or two candidates participating at each scenario. For the second half of the station there will be a group discussion of the issues raised and alternative possible approaches discussed. The next scenario is then run with different candidates volunteering to participate, so that all attendees have an opportunity to both participate and form part of the reflecting group. We have professional actors in attendance.
Audience: All NELFT Multi professional staff.
