Leadership Skills for Community Organisations
Event Information
About this Event
All community organisations, no matter their size or budget, require effective leadership to achieve their purposes, aims and outcomes. Leadership wisdom doesn’t appear overnight, however, many skills that leaders use are transferable from other life settings and depend on a foundation of effective communication. Leaders need to communicate ideas, confidence and passion to their team and to their membership in order to achieve improved outcomes. These workshops will move through several stages of leadership development from personal motivation, through building confidence to dealing with conflict.
Course Aims:
- To explore what leadership means for trustees in community organisations - turning vision into action.
- To discuss issues facing community leaders in Swindon - sharing solutions from leaders’ own experience
- To teach new skills to support resilient leadership – overcoming obstacles
Course outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will have:
- Developed a better understanding of themselves as leaders/trustees
- Become more confident about saying the things they need to say as leaders/trustees
- Acquired some conflict management skills to use in leadership roles
These workshops will be delivered as a series of 3 interlinked sessions over 3 months, however it is possible for participants to attend any session as a standalone workshop.
