Event description

Description

One of history’s most famous nurses, Mary Seacole, was born to a Jamaican mother and Scottish father but struggled to be acknowledged for her achievements. Today, Black and Minority Ethnic nurses are still less likely to be promoted, even though evidence suggests that patients have a higher satisfaction rate when treated by a diverse workforce. In response, NHS Lothian set up the programme “Leading Better Care, Leading Across Difference” to mentor nurses and midwives from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. Join us to hear more about this innovative approach and explore contributions from the diversity of nursing.
