About this event

Come and join us for a day of commissioner training topics, face to face for the first time since before the pandemic. To support you in your role as a commissioner, this event will include:

  • a variety of topics to engage and enthuse.
  • relevant materials and resources to support you in your role.
  • peer to peer facilitated learning during sessions.
  • a safe space for getting support and guidance.

You can download full information about the training topics here. Please do that before booking so you can see a full description of the sessions to help you choose.

Timings: Please arrive after 9:30 for a 10am start. Your last session will finish at 3pm and the day will include refreshments on arrival and lunch.

Travel: You'll be able to claim your travel expenses from the event and we'll explain how nearer the time. Please look to travel by the most cost-effective means which may include car sharing or public transport. To aid this, we will share the expected attendance list with the county after bookings close. There is plenty of free car parking at the venue. We appreciate that car sharing isn't always possible and travel can be quite a distance for some of our members. If you don't wish to travel, we will host some of these sessions virtually in the autumn term.

Terms and conditions: Your booking is subject to our booking terms and conditions in addition to Eventbrite's. Please read these before booking.

Frequently asked questions:

I'm a bit worried about covid, what have you got in place to protect us?

We'll be following the government guidance that is available nearer the time. We may ask you to complete Lateral Flow Tests in advance, if they are available, and ask you to consider wearing a mask in some areas. We've kept the numbers slightly lower to give plenty of space in training rooms and we'll be encouraging plenty of ventilation and handwashing.

What will I need to bring?

Do bring your own pens, notebooks and stationery as that will minimise sharing. We’d also recommend that you bring an electronic device for engaging with the various ways of sharing information that we want to use; this could be a phone, tablet or laptop. We will be using QR codes on handouts so you can ‘pick up’ an electronic version and will have a Padlet board for sharing further.

What is Padlet?

Padlet is a digital tool that can help by offering a single place for a notice board. That's at its most basic.

This digital notice board is able to feature images, links, videos, and documents, all collated on a "wall" that can be made public or private.

Since the interactive space is easy to use and easily accessible from nearly any web browser-capable device, it's a great resource.

What do we wear for the event?

Please wear your Guiding uniform.
