Event description
Can a feminist approach to climate change accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future?

About this Event

This is an invitation to a co-creational workshop:

LEADING CHANGE - Can women solve the climate crisis?

The big idea

We want to explore how women can lead and create change for a better and more sustainable society and world. We want to offer a co-creational safe space where we explore ideas and actions that might be considered as controversial today but mainstream tomorrow.

OBS! This workshop is for women by women. Men may we kindly suggest you contact the group MÄN who are doing great work! https://mfj.se/

Join us at Ekskäret Klustret for an evening where we together create magic. The workshop will be held by Heidi Andersen and Cecilia Lindén.

Monday 18 november kl 18:30- 21

We want to both create and affect change on the larger system level and the local level as well as smaller “micro” changes on the personal, private level.

Every action counts.

What is being asked of you?

You decide. You can go all in and co-create, you can follow the happenings and events from the sideline, or cheer people on - we are all needed!

Even the smallest bit of engagement is worthwhile and meaningful.

You can join and be part of discussions, drive discussions, be a creative force, turn ideas/visions into action or satisfy your curiosity of what is possible. We are in need of all kinds of different women because it brings greater perspective and possibility.

It is our diversity and inter-connection that creates magic.

Why do we think a feminist approach is important to solve the climate crisis and restore our planet?

“Climate change is not gender neutral. Women and girls are more vulnerable to its impacts. Equity is good for everyone. Enhancing the rights and well-being of women and girls could improve the future of life on this planet.” Drawdown

Remarkably often, the leading voices in climate change are female. They move beyond the cynicism of smart and strategic communication and politics to embrace personal courage, devotion, and empathy as the way forward. Women show the way towards a new paradigm of societal change leading to climate courage.

What does ecofeminism mean to us?

Ecofeminism is a feminist approach to gender inequality, human rights and the rights of nature/ecology. Ecofeminism sees a direct connection between Patriarchy, hierarchy, the abuse of power and the oppression of women, groups with less power and nature.

We see Ecofeminism as a platform for facilitating a paradigm shift in both our personal connection to how we live, and what we value and in our connection to others. It is a means to create a more sustainable society and resilient climate-smart future with respect for all beings, animals and nature.

Our guiding principles are:

  • Treat each other with respect
  • meet our differences with compassion
  • listen with our whole heart

Who are the people behind EcoFeminism Sweden?

Right now it is us - Heidi Andersen and Cecilia Lindén - Hello :)!

Our hope is that in the near future more people will join.

Cecilia

I’m the co-founder of the initiative GoClimateNeutral.org. I give lectures on climate change and how we can take climate action. Fixing the climate truly connects with my inner purpose of trying to make this world a little bit better every day. But most of all I need to do something about climate change or my children will hate me the day they find out that I did nothing about it. I love adventures with a low carbon footprint. I have a background in the sports industry having worked at Adidas Group Nordics for ten years within marketing and sustainability for the brand Reebok.

Heidi

I'm founder of *SHERO Leaders that supports women to be their own Shero, to own their worth and cultivate resilience to transform themselves and transform society. I believe we always have more possibility than we believe to affect ourselves and our world for good. I lecture on self leadership, resilience and gender/diversity. I was one of the first to teach mindfulness (because I needed it!) in Sweden, for 14 years I have lectured & taught individuals, leadership teams and organisations how to incorporate mindful/wise self leadership, positive psychology, and positive neuroscience. I grew up on a farm in upstate New York, I love soil and everything green or living. I live with a bunch of bees, 9 chickens, 3 cats, 5 teenage girls and my sweety.
