Join our monthly book club in conversation with Muslim leaders at the forefront of their field, deep diving into Nabeel Al Azami's book: "Muhammad’s (SAW): 11 Leadership Qualities That Changed the World".

We'll be kicking off with Chapter 1: Integrity with our guest speaker Dr Wajid Akhter, Secretary General, Muslim Council of Britain.

Dr Wajid Akhter brings extensive experience in community leadership and healthcare. He is a medical doctor and has a passion for Islamic history, authoring the book ‘Istanbul: An Islamic History Guide’. He is also the founder of a variety of multi-national projects including Charity Week for orphans and children in need, FIMA Lifesavers and the co-founder of the Islamic History Channel. He is also a founding member of the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA) and the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management. Now in his capacity as Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, Dr Wajid now leads the largest Islamic institution in the UK serving over 300+ members.

Each month we will go through a chapter in the book, hearing reflections from our guest speaker on real life lessons from their career in the context of prophetic leadership. There will also be room for a facilitated discussion and questions from the attendees. This is a great opportunity to learn first-hand from Muslim leaders at the forefront of their field.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - It is advisable to read the relevant chapter before the book club, but if you are unable to do so please purchase a copy of the book ready to read and reflect on soon after.

About the Book

This profound statement by Prophet Muhammad (s) compels us to recognise that we are all leaders at some level. But what makes someone a good leader? And how does each and everyone of us measure up against the leadership standards set by the Prophet?

This book presents a well-researched leadership framework combined with extensively applied contemporary practitioner case studies for the first time to readers interested in a Sirah (prophetic life) based universal model for good leadership. Drawing upon scholarly findings from eastern and western sources, and having examined an extensive range of works on Sirah, an original framework of eleven prophetic leadership qualities are presented with an entire chapter devoted to each.

Well known and lesser known events from the Sirah are explored and analysed like never before, and viewed with a specialist leadership lens, extracting insights on effective people management, authentic leadership and succeeding against the odds.

Each chapter on leadership qualities offers not only what the quality means and where it can be found in the life of the Prophet, but how one can develop those qualities within themselves as well.
