Event description
This is a brand new course aimed at third sector senior managers & new in post CEOs who want to be the best leaders they can be.

About this Event

Are you considering moving to ‘the next level’ as a professional?

Do you find yourself wondering if you are ready... and just what does it mean to be a successful ‘leader’?

Perhaps you've just become a CEO for this first time and want to ensure you're doing 'the leadership' bit well?

...If so, this may be the course for you.

Leading Yourself to Leadership

Led by: Joette Thomas, Lead Partner, Animate Consulting.

Succession remains such an huge issue for the sector and it is extremely important that the next generation of leaders are prepared and readying themselves for many of the current Chief Officers and senior leaders to be moving toward retirement in the next decade.

With that in mind, we are offering Leading Yourself to Leadership for people who are preparing for, or have recently moved into, more senior leadership roles in the sector.

This course is led by our trusted Transforming Leadership facilitator, Joette Thomas, Lead Partner, Animate Consulting.

We have structured this course as two full days, with a half day follow up – and an optional closing coaching session, to consider next steps in integrating the work you have done into your plans for the future.

While there will be an opportunity for participants to inform what is included within the course content, it is already planned to include:

  • An introduction to key concepts, and practical tools, for thinking and working at a more strategic level, managing and leading people, and importantly – self leadership
  • An opportunity to take stock of the skills, experiences, and resources that you can confidently offer to a more senior role – and an opportunity to craft a narrative about them
  • Using a psychometric tool, to identify your work-style preferences – and work with people’s other ‘preferences’ more effectively
  • Learn and apply tools from positive psychology and neuroscience – and consider their usefulness in supporting your resilience as a new leader.

This programme connects you with other third sector senior managers and new in post CEOs in an interactive, supportive and structured environment, offering a unique opportunity to develop a ‘community of practice’ in which key experiences, challenges and fresh perspectives will be identified and explored.

The course will be an experiential one – with time to think, explore what it is to be a new leader, and learn some useful, simple tools for working as one. An opportunity to take stock, reflect on yourself, and go more confidently into the future.

Full days:

Thursday, 17 September, 10:00 - 16:00

Friday, 18 September, 10:00 -16:00

Half days:

Thursday, 15 October, 10:00 - 13:00

Course times will be 10am-4pm on full days and 10am-1pm for half days (including lunch)
