This half day course is a great entry level course to for anyone. no prior knowledge or experience needed. Creative people who have have always wanted to give it a go but never had the opportunity or for curious people who just want to try something new this is a great way to experience it.

Each person will be given there own piece of stone and access to all the tools and resources to help them shape this into a carving you can take home with you and show to your friends and family.

The leaf is a common motif in stone carving and once you start to look you will see them all over buildings in wood, stone, brick ect. They are not only a beautiful decorative motif but also a great entry point to learning the skills you need to carve stone without having to much hard work. After doing it will give you a new appreciation for the carving you on building across the world.

Tea, coffee and chit chat will be provided and a important part of stone carving culture.

The course is held and taught in my own workshop just of Newport road in Cardiff, South Wales.

I am practicing stone carver and sculptor who has been working in carving for 15 years and working in stone for 10. I graduated from Cardiff school of Art with a BA(hons) in Fine Art: Sculpture in 2012 and from City and Guilds Art School London's Historic Carving course. I then trained and worked as a stone mason at Winchester cathedral, for Cadw and have worked on building and monuments across the UK.

I run these course as I have a huge love for my job and want to share this with other. People ask if it is a dying trade so I hope this help people know about and to inspire people to get keep it up so it can keep going today and into the future.
