“Lean In” to your career with confidence

Do you step away from career opportunities because you’re still waiting for the right moment?  Maybe you want to increase your visibility but worry about not being true to yourself?  Or perhaps you know what you want to achieve but feel held back by a lack of confidence.

Many women share these uncertainties, which can in turn contribute to slow career progression and insufficient diversity at senior levels.  Drawing on Sheryl Sandberg’s 2013 book “Lean In” which explores these topics and more, this workshop will help you establish practical steps towards building a successful career in the Civil Service.

The workshop combines motivation, discussion and practical exercises.  We’ll explore why it’s important for women to keep challenging themselves and aiming for higher grades, the need for confidence as well as competence and how to build it, ways to identify and play to your strengths, steps you can take to become more visible at work, and ideas about how to plan your career with the support you need to succeed.

This workshop will be delivered by Katie Driver:

Previously a Civil Servant for over 20 years, Katie Driver founded the Thinking Alliance to help people achieve the powerful thinking which enables them to thrive.  She is particularly interested in helping quieter and less outwardly confident individuals to make their mark in the workplace.  Combining coaching, training and consultancy, Katie helps individuals and organisations to think more clearly, develop strong, supportive connections, and take sustained, purposeful action.  Katie is keen to ensure that organisations maximise the thinking power of all their people by making the most of their diverse talents.

Katie brings an independent, calm and pragmatic approach to her work.  She combines interests in psychology and diversity with experience of Senior Civil Service leadership, entrepreneurship, portfolio working, volunteering & marathon running.  Katie also understands the realities of flexible working and combining career and family.

Please note the provider has advised this course is generally targeted at women.
