Mike Addison leads this Lean Innovation workshop to help SMEs get their innovation market ready

About this Event

Forming part of the GX Masterclass programme. This exciting workshop focuses on Lean Innovation and Open Innovation.

The audience will leave the session with knowledge of the key principles of lean innovation and those facets of open innovation which are likely to be of greatest use to an SME.

The 3-hour programme will comprise short slide presentations interspersed with participation exercises that will enable the audience to experience how some of the material discussed can be put in practice.

The workshop will cover:

  • The critical importance of innovation to any company.
  • Product and Technology development road maps that help guide the innovation process
  • The lean innovation methodology – build, measure, learn, loop
  • Developing your Business Model
  • Developing your Value Proposition
  • The customer development process
  • The role of the Minimal Viable product
  • What is Open Innovation
  • Introduction to The Want, Find, Assess, Get model
  • A brief outline of each element of the model and how to apply it to best effect.

About Mike Addison

Dr Mike Addison read Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, and completed his post-doctoral research at the University of Southern California.

Joining Proctor and Gamble (P&G) in 1980, Mike spent his first 17 years developing and improving products for P&G’s fabric and home care divisions, and then transferred to Corporate R&D where he was responsible for the management of a million dollar seed fund to help drive European innovation productivity. In his last 12 years with the company Mike helped pioneer the adoption of an Open Innovation strategy across the company – leading efforts in the UK and with special responsibility for scouting opportunities for P&G’s corporate incubator – Future Works.

Since retiring from P&G in 2012 Mike has been helping North East SMEs apply some of what he learnt with P&G while also lecturing on Entrepreneurship and Open Innovation at a number of universities within the UK.
