Description

Step-up and change your life with Ash Hope.

Learn techniques that will enhance your health, happiness and wellbeing.

Most people experience yoga through the practice of physical postures (asanas). However the traditional yoga system as described by Patanjali is made up of 8-limbs of which asanas is the third limb. In this workshop we will explore each step of this fascinating method to deepen your understanding of yoga, how it applies to yourself as an individual and how it can transform your life.

This workshop is for you if you have …

  • just finished your yoga teacher training and need some structured guidance to help you on your journey? or

  • you have been teaching yoga for a while and would like to find a new spark of inspiration for your classes and own personal practice? or

  • perhaps you are new to yoga and hungry to learn how the Ashtanga method can transform your life?

This workshop runs over 4 individual sessions, for the best experience we encourage you to do all 4 sessions.

Session 1 - ASANAS

26th August 1:00 - 3:30 pm

On day one we focus on ASANA and proper alignment. You learn how to practice yoga safely, avoid injuries and advance in your practice. Based on the Ashtanga yoga primary series we will move through a number of postures and work on correct alignment in certain key poses. Through physical and verbal adjustments you will experience to be ‘in’ the pose rather than just moving through it. We will work on linking breath and movement to make your practice more effortless and flowing. You will gain a deeper understanding of the healing power of this intelligent sequence and how the practice becomes a moving mediation.

Session 2 - YAMAS & NIYAMAS

26th August 4:30 - 7:00 pm

In this session we will learn more about the ethical values that form part of the yogic lifestyle. These values describe the behavior and attitude towards yourself and your environment. To be the best in everything you do ultimately helps you to accomplish more in every day life. The values as described in the Yoga Sutra’s lay out a pathway to achieve greatness in all areas of life. At first they seem simple and easy to follow, however through further self-enquiry and observation it becomes clear that life is an opportunity to grow with each day. Through our personal development and actions we set an example and inspire others to lead a meaningful life.

Learn more about the yogic values and get inspired to incorporate them into your life. This will be an interactive session that is all about ‘breaking old habits' to ‘create a life with meaning’.

Session 3 - PRANAYAMA

27th August 1:00 - 3:30 pm

The breath, our most precious tool….. without breath there is no life. Incorrect breathing depletes our body, causes anxiety, stress and can shorten ones life by years. But most people only bring attention to it when they run out of breath. Through the practice of Yoga we become much more aware of our breathing patterns and learn to unlock the force of energy we can create by breathing freely. This workshop session will guide you deeper into the subject of PRANAYAMA and how you can apply these techniques into your yoga practice and daily life. Feeling tired and need a little boost of energy? - We will practice a technique that will bring the prana right back into your system and recharge you for the rest of your day.

Finding it difficult to relax after a busy day, is your mind racing and your thoughts scattered? - Learn how you can use your breath to help find calmness and to let go of daily stress. The techniques you will practice in this sessions are easy to incorporate into your daily life andwill enhance your health, energy and wellbeing.

Session 4 - Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi

27th August 4:30 - 7:00 pm

These 4 limbs of the Ashtanga method are the fruits of practicing the first 4 limbs and happen as a result of your efforts. Use your yoga practice not just to be healthy and strong but to make your life amazing. This session is about finding your passion and following your dream.

Ashtanga takes you far beyond the physical aspects of your being and helps you to overcome fears, insecurities, doubts etc. In return you gain confidence, self-worth, creativity, happiness and much more. In this session we will explore the process of achieving the life you desire. Learn how to focus on what is really important to you and how to let go of distractions. How can your failures from the past accelerate your present growth? Perhaps you even discover that achieving bliss is closer than you think it is. This session will bring you closer to the core of your desires, to unlock your hunger and take actions to follow your destiny.

About Ash Hope

Transformative, confronting and empowering are the pillars of how Ash would describe the practice of Yoga. ‘It takes you to your edge and back to the present. You tap into your unlimited potential to become the person that you were born to be.’

Little did she know what impact Yoga would have on her life when Ash went to her first class in 2005. Her inquisitive nature led her to practice various forms like Bikram, Power, Vinyasa Flow until she traveled to India and explored the traditional way of practicing Ashtanga Yoga. Learning from the source has deeply impacted her view on Yoga and opened a much deeper dimension to the practice than just physical asanas. In 2009 Ash completed her teacher training (RYT-200) in India with the Himalayan Yoga school and went back to Australia to study at the Melbourne Ashtanga centre.

Ash believes that to know the real meaning of yoga one has to teach from direct experience. On her own path of practice she spent time with Nancy Gilgoff (Maui), Prem and Radha (Bali) and undertook in depth trainings with Manju Jois and David Swenson. Her motivation to teach Yoga is helping people to reach their fullest potential. This goes for the practice on the mat and transfers in all other areas of life.

Ash lives in Cairns and runs the Ashtanga Yoga centre with regular Mysore classes during the week. She also teaches private classes and has been part of a corporate Health and Wellbeing program that was awarded the best in Australia in 2015.

“I am grateful for the people that walked the path before me and honored to share these teachings with others” ~Ash Hope
